The prevalence and burden of breathlessness in Australian adults

May 2021

Breathlessness is common in Australia. There is a substantial burden of breathlessness among those without a respiratory or heart condition, suggesting underdiagnosis of these conditions or alternative causes of breathlessness.

Further investigation of the causes of breathlessness is needed, including among people who have not sought medical advice about their breathlessness.
