The Sleep and Circadian Research Group at the Woolcock Institute are world leaders in their field, working to forge new ground in the understanding of the biology of sleep and the prevention and treatment of sleep disorders. 

The Group is in a period of growth and is seeking suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join their team in casual and fixed term capacities (full time or part time) at a range of experience levels. 

We are seeking expressions of interest from dynamic and talented individuals for multiple roles at our state-of-the-art sleep and circadian research facility such as:

Research assistants

  • Minimum requirement: undergraduate science or health qualification.
  • Desirable: experience in sleep research; digital health interventions; venepuncture; ECG; EEG; diet and lifestyle interventions; ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, administering cognitive assessments; ICH/GCP certificate; ethics and governance submissions.  

Study/project coordinators (junior and senior)

  • Minimum requirement: undergraduate science or health qualification and 2+ years’ experience in clinical research.
  • Desirable: previous experience in sleep research, clinical trials, ethics and governance procedures and recruitment methods; current ICH/GCP training.

Research sleep technologists

  • Minimum requirement: 1-2 years’ experience in a sleep laboratory setting including care and monitoring of patients; sleep study acquisition; analysis and reporting of sleep studies.
  • Desirable: Experience in daytime sleep studies; experience performing research protocols; RPSGT certification.

Senior research sleep technologist

  • Minimum requirement: postgraduate science or health qualification; current registration as a Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or other comparable credential and 3+ years’ experience in a sleep laboratory setting; high level technical capabilities (research/lab equipment).
  • Desirable: proficiency in Compumedics Grael/Profusion/Nexus and Philips Alice 6/G3; current ICH/GCP training; experience in conducting and/or managing investigator initiated and sponsored sleep research in a sleep clinic setting; experience with CPAP equipment and actigraphy; familiarity with specialised research equipment (or willingness to learn) including high-density EEG, fNIRS, pulse wave analysis, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.  

Post doctoral research associates

  • Minimum requirement: postgraduate qualification in the field of sleep research.
  • Desirable: experience with high-density EEG; fNIRS; physiological signal processing; expertise in MATLAB/python; statistical analysis.

Research & Clinical Psychologist

  • Minimum requirement: postgraduate degree in health and/or clinical psychology; interest in a dual role involving sleep research and own clinical load in the Woolcock Clinic; eligibility to bill patient consults through Medicare; experience in the behavioural management of sleep disorders. 
  • Desirable: experience in clinical research; ability to score and report actigraphy; proficiency in database, graphics and presentation software.
