New approaches for early diagnosis and treatment of cognitive decline and dementia risk in age-related sleep and respiratory disorders

Our new Centre for Chronic Diseases of Ageing has two exciting PhD opportunities for research into new approaches for early diagnosis and treatment of cognitive decline and dementia risk in age-related sleep and respiratory disorders.

The Centre will identify early risk factors and biomarkers of cognitive decline and dementia risk in people with chronic diseases of ageing, with a focus on sleep disorders and COPD. Its goals are to develop new techniques for early detection of cognitive changes and to explore the mechanisms of how sleep loss and COPD contribute to brain ageing. The Centre will also develop and test new therapeutics to slow or halt cognitive decline.

The Centre is seeking talented, passionate, and dynamic students to join our leading multi-disciplinary research team who work across the fields of sleep and chronobiology, lung physiology, pharmaceutics, cell biology, clinical management, epidemiology, and/or data science.

Applications close 30 April 2023. Find out more
