Dr Gunjan Aggarwal is a general adult cardiologist with a special interest in non-invasive cardiac imaging, particularly echocardiography, three-dimensional transoesophageal echocardiography, strain imaging and Cardiac CT.
Dr Aggarwal graduated with first class honours from the University of NSW in 2002 and completed his residency and basic physician training at Westmead Hospital where he was exposed to a broad range of medical specialties. He undertook his adult cardiology training at Prince of Wales, St George and Wollongong Hospitals. Subsequently he was appointed the Echocardiography and Cardiac Imaging Fellow at the Prince of Wales and St George Hospitals in 2009 and 2010.
Dr Aggarwal holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and is a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Eastern Heart Clinic, Prince of Wales Private, Macquarie University Hospital, SAN and Norwest Private Hospital. He has Level 2 accreditation with the Society of Cardiovascular CT and Level A CTCA accreditation in Australia in Cardiac CT. He was awarded a masters in research degree (M Med) from the University of New South Wales in 2018 in Cardiac CT for his thesis “Benefits of Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction and High definition versus Filtered Back Projection and Standard Definition multidetector row cardiac imaging with respect to radiation dose and diagnostic accuracy”.
His areas of interest include valvular and structural heart disease, preventative and general cardiology, heart failure and the application of advanced cardiac imaging techniques such as Cardiac CT in the assessment of cardiovascular diseases.
