The Woolcock Institute of Medical Research has opened a medical clinic allowing some of Australia’s leading medical research to also see patients.

Located at 431 Glebe Point Road the clinic is considered to be unique because there are a number of specialists, covering a number of medical areas, all in the one building, which enables the
doctors to treat a range of conditions comprehensively without the patient having to travel to see various specialists.

Karen Fleming, Clinic Manager said, “Many of the Woolcock Clinic doctors are leading edge researchers with relevant clinical experience who investigate the causes, new treatments and ways
to prevent these disorders and diseases occurring.

“The Woolcock doctors are working in a state of the art facility and are at the forefront of medicine. They are up-to-date with the latest developments with many setting the pace for their specialties.”

Patients can make appointments for the following specialty areas:

  • Sleep specialists for the treatment of sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, Restless Legs Syndrome, insomnia;
  • Respiratory physicians for the treatment of diseases such as asthma, COPD, emphysema and allergies
  • Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon for the treatment of obstructive problems
  • Psychiatry service for assistance with sleep disorders
  • Endocrinology for the treatment of diabetes and metabolic and obesity
  • Psychology with a specific focus on insomnia workshops to relearn sleep
  • Andrology for the testosterone deficiency, male infertility

Another feature is the CPAP clinic. CPAP is a common treatment for sleep apnea but people frequently experience problems when they start using it or they may need help fitting the mask or getting the settings correct. The Clinic’s CPAP specialist is available to help people so they can quickly resolve any problems and learn how to use the treatment correctly.

The Woolcock Clinic also offers a range of diagnostic services including overnight sleep studies, comprehensive respiratory, stress and pulmonary tests, ECG and EEG tests and a number of at home portable diagnostics for measuring sleep patterns.

The overnight sleep rooms use state-of-the-art monitoring and patient management equipment and are beautifully appointed, much like a hotel room to ensure a comfortable stay.
